Submission Details

Aequitas Journal of Economics publishes original essays written by high school and undergraduate students. Joint authorship is permitted. We accept all forms of academic writing, although research papers will be favored in the review process.

Submission Deadlines

Aequitas Journal of Economics publishes one issue annually on August 1.

Submissions are accepted according to the following schedule:

  • Priority Deadline of June 1

  • Final Submission Deadline of June 25

Essays submitted by the priority deadline will receive earlier consideration and may have greater opportunity for revision prior to publication.

All submissions received by the final deadline will be considered for the upcoming issue. Manuscripts submitted after this date may be considered for the following year’s issue.

Authors will be notified of editorial decisions following completion of the review process.

Essay Requirements:

Essays should generally be 5,000–10,000 words, excluding references, though longer submissions may be considered.

Submissions must:

  • Be written in English

  • Include a title page with the essay title, author name(s), school or institution (optional), abstract (100-250 words) and word count

  • Use Chicago style citations with footnotes

  • Include a bibliography

  • Use one consistent font family throughout the document

  • Be submitted as a single document

Charts, figures, and tables may be included where relevant.

Submission Process:

All submissions must be made electronically. Authors should upload their essay to Google Docs, share it with aequitasjournalofeconomics@gmail.com with editing access, and submit the Google Document link through the submission form on this website.

Please submit only one essay per form.

Originality and Academic Integrity:

Submissions must represent the author’s original work and may not have been previously published or be under consideration by another journal, conference, or publication at the time of submission. Authors must notify the editorial board if the manuscript is submitted elsewhere during the review process.

Aequitas Review maintains a zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism, fabrication of data, falsification of results, or misrepresentation of sources. All sources must be properly cited and clearly distinguished from the author’s original contributions.

Data Transparency:

Empirical submissions should clearly describe data sources, methodology, and assumptions. Authors are encouraged to provide datasets or replication materials where feasible. If proprietary or restricted data are used, authors should clearly note the limitations.

Authorship and Conflicts of Interest:

All listed authors must have made a meaningful intellectual contribution to the manuscript and must approve the final version submitted.

Authors should disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that could reasonably influence the research.

Review Process:

All submissions undergo double-blind peer review. Manuscripts are first screened by the editorial board and then evaluated by two or more reviewers for originality, analytical rigor, research quality, and clarity of argument. Most accepted papers will require at least one round of revision prior to publication.

Publication Rights:

Authors retain ownership of their work. By submitting, authors grant Aequitas Journal of Economics permission to publish the essay in the journal and on its website.
